2 The fascinating story behind the Barber Dime

Just 24 barber dimes were created in 1894 by John Dagget, superintendent of the San Francisco Mint. He gave three coins to his young daughter and three each to seven friends. John instructed his daughter to save the coin but she went and purchased an ice cream with it instead.

There are only nine 1894-S Barber Dimes in existence today and two are even in circulation. One wonders who may be carrying that dime in his or her pocket right now.
