10 Natural Remedies to Remove Dark Knees and Elbows

Most of us get irritated with the ugly black patches on our elbows and knees which make it look dirty and grimy. Our knees and elbows do not have any oil glands so it naturally gets rough and dry What we need to understand first is that these dark rough patches are not always the result of external factors like friction, dirt or grime but internal too, like hormonal imbalances. 1Cucumber

Cucumber is not just crispy and tasty in a salad but it can also remove your dark elbow and knee patches! It has a strong bleaching property which removes dead skin cells and nourishes the skin. Cucumber has Vitamin A and C which keeps the skin fresh and vibrant.

What you need to do

All you need to do is to rub thick slices of cucumber over your elbows and knees for at least 15 minutes daily. Now leave the cucumber juices on the skin for additional 5 minutes so that the skin pores soaks it in properly before you wash it off. If you are not allergic to the acidity of lemon juice, then it’s even better! Just mix equal amounts of cucumber and lemon juice and apply it on the elbows, knees and underarms. Leave it the juices to act upon the skin for 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Repeat this process daily for faster results.

2Lemon and baking soda

Lemon is armed with antioxidants and vitamin C which promotes skin regeneration and brightens the complexion. Baking soda, on the other hand, is a brilliant cleanser for whitening dark patches.

What you need to do

Cut a lemon into 2 halves and sprinkle 1tbsp of baking soda on the lemon tops. Now rub your elbows and knees for 1 whole minute and let the juice sit for another 15 minutes. Now rinse off the solution with a little warm water for better results. You can repeat this ministration in every 2nd day.

3Aloe Vera and milk

Aloe Vera has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which improve your skin quality. It contains substances which has the ability to lighten the skin tone and improve the skin unevenness. A combination of milk and Aloe Vera can work wonders for your skin.

What you need to do

Mix equal amounts of milk and Aloe Vera gel and rub it gently on your elbows and knees. Leave the mixture on the skin patches overnight. Wash it off next morning when you finally take a shower. The 2nd way you can utilize Aloe Vera is to extract the gel from the leaf and directly apply it to your knees and elbow. Leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.

4Potato

Potato can actually soften your skin and make it smooth! Potato skin is rich in catecholase enzymes that have the ability to naturally lighten the dark patches on the skin. Grate the potato, now slowly squeeze out the juice apply to your black patches. Leave it on your skin for 15minutes than wash it off. Don’t forget to apply moisturizer. Another way of doing it is to rub your elbows and knees with the cut slices of potato for at least 10-15 minutes and then wash it off.

How to use turmeric on skin

Mix some turmeric with 1 tsp of milk and make a thick paste. Apply this paste in the darkened patches and massage it and leave it dry naturally. Once the paste dries off, wash it off with warm water. For better results, you can add a bit honey into the mixture as well.

We all know Coconut oil is a healthy substitute for cooking as it has essential fatty acids and vitamin E. but did you know the same properties can work wonders for your dark skin patches too. Finding it hard to believe? Then just try this method regularly and see the difference. Apply coconut oil in the affected skin areas after a bath or shower. Message for 2-3 minutes until the oil is well absorbed. For faster effect add ½ tsp of fresh lime juice to the oil and gently massage the dark rough patches on the knees and elbows for a few minutes. 7Honey

Honey and lemon works miracles on your skin because honey is natural moisturizer and lemon is a natural antioxidant. How do you make this work? Well here is simple recipe.mix 2 tbsp honey, the juice of half a lemon and 1 tsp baking soda. Now apply this mixture on the dark patches on your elbows and knees and even underarms. Let it sit for at least half an hour and then rinse it off.

8Sugar and olive oil

This is the simplest homemade scrub including just sugar and olive oil which is mostly available in every kitchen. This scrub not only hydrates your skin but also removes dead cells too. Here is a simple way to prepare this scrub. Mix equal amount of sugar and olive oil to make a fine paste. Now apply this mixture to the dark patches on your knees and elbows and gently massage in circular motion for at least 5 minutes. Repeat this exercise once in a week without fail for sure shot results. This scrub is a bit hard so if you are cleansing your face with it do not rub too vigorously as you might hurt your skin.

9Oatmeal scrub

Oatmeal is not just a healthy and nutritious breakfast item but it has other wonderful properties too. Did you know that oatmeal can make your skin flawless and smooth like butter! To make this happen, you need salt and lemon juice. Mix the juice of ½ lemon, 1/2 tbsp of oatmeal and a pinch of salt. Here again apply the scrub in the darkened areas of skin in a circular motion for 10-15 minutes. Finally, wash it off with warm water. This exercise needs to be repeated 3-4 times a week for best results. Another alternative solution is to mix 2 tbsp of oatmeal with milk and massage the dark patches for 10 minutes for the best results.

10Vinegar and yogurt

The sure shot way to lighten the ugly dark patches on your knees and elbows is to apply vinegar and yogurt mixture. Vinegar as we all know has a high content of acetic acid whereas yogurt is full of lactic acid having a cleansing effect on knees and elbows. Mix 1tbsp of yogurt and 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Apply this potion on the effected skin areas. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Repeat this ministration at least 3-4 times a week. Another alternative way is to simply mix the apple cider vinegar with water and apply to the knees and elbow area with a cotton ball and rub it gently. Leave it for 15 minutes before you wash it off.
