Wednesday saw some tragic news for all those familiar with a man who has always made us laugh on the Chappelle show. Standup Comedian Charlie Murphy is dead. After a long battle with Leukemia, Charlie 57 and the elder brother of Eddie Murphy succumbed to the disease on Wednesday. He is survived by his brother and three children. Charlie’s wife Tisha Taylor Murphy expired earlier in 2009 from cervical cancer. Perhaps Charlie is now at peace and reunited with his wife of 12 years.
A distraught Murphy family reached out to family and friends thanking them for their condolences and prayers. In a statement they said, “our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie”. “Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. “Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers.”

Perhaps the creepiest aspect of Charlie Murphy’s death was a tweet in his final hours which has gone near viral on twitter. Several users made comments like “Creepy he knew”, and “What a surreal final tweet from Charlie Murphy,” wrote another.

Charlie was always famous for his appearances on the Chappelle‘s show aired on Comedy central. He was also responsible for writing the storylines of Edie’s famous films, Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn. Murphy had also made some feature films like Our Family Wedding, Kings Ransom and CB4. He has made appearances on the TV drama series Power along with Omar Hardwick.

Several friends and celebrities alike have voiced their shock and condolences on twitter with Chris Rock the first to respond. “We just lost one of the funniest most real brothers of all time.” Former Basketball star Magic Johnson tweeted “I haven’t seen anything as funny as Charlie Murphy & Dave Chappelle’s skits on the Chappelle’s Show!”
