Have you ever seen your cat or dog stare in space and make threatening sounds even when nothing seems to be there? If you are a cat or dog owner, then you are definitely familiar with this phenomenon. Your pet seems t be growling or purring in wonder and intent with eyes wide open. Sometimes you may also notice your dog’s tail wagging with excitement.
So what are your pets looking at? Is this activity proof of the age-old accepted fact passed on by word of mouth that they are seeing ghosts or spirits? Do cats and dogs possess the ability to see something we aren’t able to which is why they may even get spooked sometimes? Is it possible that other members of the animal kingdom also have this power to sense entities of the other world?

Till now it was widely believed that cats and dogs can see ultraviolet light but a study has now proved that theory wrong. Biologists have conducted new research at the City University London which now questions the earlier assumption that cats and dogs can’t see UV light.

Ultraviolet light is a wavelength on the light spectrum that is beyond the capabilities of a human’s perception. The study proves that cats, dogs and even certain other animals can actually see UV light which is the visible light beyond the red to violet wavelength.

The Ultraviolet wavelength could also represent auras which are energy fields that surround humans hearts, bodies and in fact our entire beings. This isn’t something magical or metaphysical, it is science where the physiology of our bodies and the energy within results in a glow surrounding us and that’s what is known as an aura.

If auras are created by energy fields surrounding us, then there is no doubt the colors of it would in all probability change due to disease or sickness. Is what can prove another assumption that animals can make out when a family member is sick? Is this why it is easy to train dogs to detect seizures? This also explains why animals are reserved towards certain people who don’t emanate a favorable energy that attract them.

The reason why we can’t see UV light is that it doesn’t reach the retina. Earlier it was assumed that animals have the same type of retinas than humans but it so happens that they don’t. The conclusion was reached when scientists studied the lenses of several dead animals that included cats, dogs, monkeys, hedgehogs, ferrets, and pandas. It was found that even insects like bees, bird’s fish, and butterflies have UV vision. So what are these animals seeing?

This is the big question which would have yielded a definite answer if our furry friends could talk. There are many people who feel that Cats and dogs are more tuned into the spiritual world than humans. Take for example cats whose brains produce more DMT or dimethyltryptamine.

DMT is released in small amounts by the pineal gland in humans when dreaming. It is also assumed to be released seconds before death which is why those with near-death experiences have revealed that they see a bright light as if it is the gateway to the afterlife.

Cats having large amounts of DMT in their brains give way to the possibility that they are always in a dream-like state. Hence this is what helps them remain tuned into everything around us more than what we can see. We don’t usually see more than we can because of the fact that the human consciousness is always focused on a specific reality and time. While this is speculation by some scientists, the same cannot be said for dogs. So is this why witches of ancient times prefer cats?

Coming back to dogs, innumerous studies have been done on the senses of dogs and we humans can learn much from our furry friends. Dogs are easy to train and these natural abilities make it easier for them to detect a seizure or even cancer and other illnesses in the body. Bees use UV light to guide them to nectar while reindeer use it to spot polar bears.

The reason why Humans blocked out UV light was to see better. When scientists studied the retinas of certain animals that blocked out UV light, they found such animals having high- resolution vision The human eye can see high detail due to a high density of color sensitive cells or cones existing in the retina. Nocturnal animals, on the other hand, allow as much light in as possible and this includes UV light that doesn’t serve them much purpose.

The fact that our furry friends know something or see something we don’t is beyond any of our five senses. There are possibilities that the human eye also has such abilities but it has been turned off or blocked out all because we tend to focus on the ground realities that are unfolding before us every day. Science hasn’t been able to back up such claims of people seeing such things although there are people who exist who can see a huge number of colors like a woman who can see 100 million different colors.

Humans can well tap into their own gifted abilities that lie suppressed within us because of the dull routines of our daily lives and rigid thought process. Perhaps if we hone our dormant faculties and skills and trigger them with practice and healthy living, we may well see that there is more to the world than we can imagine.

Because UV light is also considered the spectrum in which spirits also wander, then perhaps when your cat is purring and acting up or your dog stares at open space and starts growling, don’t write them off. People with high intuition will somehow recognize such presence through hindsight and the fact that animals do see spirits should not be dismissed until further study says they can’t.
