A few days ago, the tabloids were full of news that Carrie Underwood would be making a public appearance at the ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards and yes, she actually has!! The 52nd ACM awards were held on Sunday the 15th and Carrie had been posting teasers on Instagram of her new single “Cry Pretty” last week scheduled to be performed at the ACM.
Sure enough, she took centre stage at the show performing “Cry Pretty” the first single from her upcoming Album. This makes the country music star’s first public appearance since her horrible accident last November in which she suffered broken bones and a bad face injury requiring 40-50 stitches. Yet, she looked simply amazing.

Looking at Carrie on stage, none would have guessed the 5-month trauma the star had been through. She had even suffered a broken wrist.

By the looks of it, she is absolutely right and looks just as gorgeous as she has always looked before. Carrie seems to have recovered quite well thanks to her own determination never to go down.

Carrie wore sparkles around her eyes that looked like tears which is the same as the visuals for the single. There were no traces of her injury that could be detected even on television cameras. Fans reacted with enthusiasm, relief and love for the singer on Instagram.

Carrie’s new song is a powerful ballad which she worked on with writer/producer David Garcia who will be the co-producer of her new Album. Carrie says she wrote the song with the help of Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose who write under the name “Love Junkies”. In fact, Carrie even signed up for their writing sessions last year and now she says, the result is simply magical.

Carrie describes “Cry pretty as a power ballad of emotions that take hold of you and which you can never hold back. It reflects all that has happened to her in the past year. She says “I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS!”

Carrie suffered a nasty fall in her Nashville home in November when she fell down the stairs and was injured her severely. Apart from a broken wrist, she also suffered a facial injury that required almost 50 stitches. The singer kept her face covered most of the time to allow herself to heal. She gave her fans a few details of her accident on her website.

In a Note to her fans on her website she wrote “In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
In her website post last week, she also said that she was feeling good as her face was healing well. “First off, physically, I’m doing pretty darn good these days!” she wrote. “My wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there…and the docs say that last 10% will come in time. And my face has been healing pretty nicely as well. I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while.”

The ACM Awards Night was Underwood’s first Television appearance since her fall. She looked beautiful in her sparkling glittery dress and rhinestones beneath her eyes. Underwood has admitted that she never quite felt the same since her accident “ When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different," she said. However, she hardly looked different during Sunday’s performance.
