At the after-party of the 2014 Met Gala, and Beyonce, Jay-Z and Beyonce’s sister Solange were in an elevator, and that is when Solange famously attacked Jay-Z. The footage went viral, and there was a lot of media frenzy around it.

In the video, Solange kicks Jay-Z and hits him multiple times, while Beyonce does nothing to stop her. It was reported that Solange found about Jay-Z’s affair with another woman. And since Beyonce did nothing to stop her, it was assumed that Solange hit Jay-Z’s for the love of her sister.

Soon after the tour, it was reported that both Beyonce and Jay might have been cheating on each other. In fact, sources said that Beyonce had an affair with her longtime bodyguard Julius De Boer. Jay-Z, too, was said to have had flings with another woman. Neither party commented on the issue, but were not seen in public together for a long time.

Beyonce dropped her pathbreaking HBO visual album Lemonade in 2016, and it gave the Beyhive a lot of reasons to get apprehensive. The album had songs which made very clear references to Jay-Z’s infidelity and even dropped hints at who he had an affair with. All the songs in Lemonade were personal, but numbers like Sorry, Hold Up and Don’t Hurt Yourself were specifically about her rocky romantic equations with Jay-Z.

In one of the songs of the album, titled I Ain’t, Beyonce makes a reference to a ‘Becky with the good hair.’ In the lyrics, Beyonce accuses Jay-Z of not spending time with her and being on the phone with a certain ‘Becky.’ Fans went into a tizzy, over who Becky could be, and eventually found some inklings.

Speculation emerged that Becky is actually fashion designer Rachel Roy, Jay-Z worked with Rachel’s then-husband’s Damon Dash for a clothing label collaboration, and that’s how they met. Things got even stranger when Rachel herself made a reference to the ‘Good Hair’ lyric when she put up an Instagram photo of herself with the caption, “Good hair, don’t care.” Fans were now pretty sure that Rachel was indeed Becky, especially since she had divorced with her husband while the Jay-Z cheating scandal was brewing.

It is no secret that Beyonce is not a fan of the Kardashians, especially Kim who often runs around in the same circles as her. Especially since, Kim Kardashian’s husband Kanye West is a friend and collaborator of Jay-Z. And Rachel Roy just happens to be a very good friend of Kim’s. People still believe that Beyonce froze the Kardashians out, as they were on friendly terms with Rachel. Jay-Z’s equation with Kanye also soured.
