Mihaela Noroc is a Romanian photographer who undertook an amazing and unique journey around the globe between 2013 to 2015. Unlike the usual traveler, Mihaela took on a project titled “the Atlas of beauty" in which she photographed naturally beautiful women across the world, spoke to them, understood their cultural traditions, way of life and their stories but most of all she photographed them spontaneously and the results turned out stunning. Almost all of the women have been captured spontaneously during a moment with Mihaela. Although you may not see the cover girl model in her photos, every women is beautiful in a unique and unconventional way which mirrors the true beauty of herself and her culture. This is a photo of a volunteer Punjab girl in the golden temple of Amritsar in India. A langar is a community kitchen run by volunteer only. This particular kitchen serves food to 100,000 people daily the picture on the right is a photo of a Sikh pilgrim wearing a kirpan or a dagger that is part of five spiritual items carried by Sikhs.

According to Noroc, this girl is an Ethiopian Muslim but her best friend is a Christian. “I admired the way Christians and Muslims got along, yet in the same country there are dozens of terrible ethnic conflicts”

This girl was walking around the Buddhist monastery of Labrang in Xihae, China. Noroc says the girl was surprised when she was told by Noroc that she was beautiful. “People don't think that they are beautiful. But they are. You wear your story on your face, and that is part of who we are.”
