One of the greatest news a person can hear is that he/she is going to become a parent. A baby is something entirely new thing. The baby brings new joy into the lives of parents and their laughs and giggles are the most precious moments parents can ever see.
However, Noah Wall wasn’t such a lucky baby, after all, he wasn’t suppose to survive his birth, but now at 4 years old, he has amazed doctors and we have the whole story for you.
Noah Wall was not supposed to survive. Born to Shelly and Rob in 2012, Noah was born with just 2% of healthy brain tissue. Doctors had advised the parents that babies with such severe cases of hydrocephalus do not survive for long time after birth. Shelly and Rob had even gone through the extremely heart breaking job of choosing a baby coffin for Noah who was yet to be born.
Into 3 months of pregnancy, Shelley also found that Noah suffered from spina bifida - a condition where the spine does not develop properly, leaving a gap - rare chromosome abnormalities. The doctors offered to terminate the pregnancy.

Hydrocephalus is a condition in which fluid builds up in the brain and in Noah’s case; the fluid buildup in his brain had destroyed all but 2% of his brain cells. Effectively, Noah didn’t have any brain left and since it is perhaps the most important organ in the body, which controls all the other organs. It also helps in development of other organs and helps in physical and mental growth of an individual.

In Noah, that would be impossible and therefore doctors didn’t have much faith in his survival. But miracles happen and in Noah’s case, he was born on this Earth to survive and that’s what he did. But his survival for four years and continuing has baffled the doctors.

Now four years old, Doctors are stunned to see Noah, who has even learnt to count. His brain has started growing and is almost to its full function. The spina bifida condition has however left him on a wheelchair.
Her mom said, "I think it's down to his independence from such a young age. He's had a specialised wheelchair from the age of one so he's had as much independence as most children. That independence has helped his brain. He's always made his own decisions and he's such a smiley, happy little boy. We couldn't be happier."

"No one can explain how this recovery happened as it’s so complicated. He still has fluid on the brain - his latest scan doesn’t look like yours or mine. But the prognosis is good. He could become a doctor or Prime Minister. Intellectually, we will have to wait and see what he is capable of" said Dr. Colin Shieff, consultant neurosurgeon and trustee of brain injury charity Headway UK.
