Danger doesn’t come to us after giving a notice, it occurs unexpectedly. Sometimes we encounter some critical situations when we can’t wait for an ambulance and an immediate treatment is required. Have you ever thought what will you do if someone near you suddenly starts chocking or if someone gets an electric shock? We cannot be sure about the time when these uncertainties can occur or when there will be a need to use a first-aid trick but by knowing immediate first- aid tricks we can surely save someone’s or our lives in these kind of situations. So it is important to learn these tricks for being sure of facing any critical situation in future. Here is a list of helpful instructions that will help you to save the lives.

1Indirect Heart Massage

It is compulsory to give an indirect heart massage if the affected person is not responding or there is no sign of pulse. In this situation call an ambulance first and to keep the person alive perform indirect heart massage and artificial respiration. It will help in supplying the necessary oxygen needed.

Without bending your elbows place both of your palms crosswise on the lower third part of the chest of the affected person. Start pushing your palms against the chest, one push per minute.

Artificial respiration should be given along with indirect heart massage. For this;

Pinch the nose of the person and blow air into his mouth. The ratio between inhales and pushes should be 5:1 if it is done by two people and 15:2 if the resuscitation is being performed by a single person.

2Choking

When someone starts choking, it is assumed that tapping on the back is the best solution to treat choking. But there is another method which is much beneficial and effective from this. If the choking doesn’t go away with tapping then stand behind the choking person and wrap your hands around his waist. Place your thumbs lower to his chest but above the belly button. With an ascending upshot, press their belly steadily and instantly. Repeat this process until the person got rid of problem.

3Burns

People assume that the pain of the burn can be reduced with the help of creams but this is the worst method to treat a burn according to doctors. If you get burned then the first thing you have to do is instantly cool down the affected area with cold water. Don’t try to open blisters if you see them but if a blister gets damaged don’t use water. Cover the burn with a sterile bandage and consult a doctor. It is advised to keep special foam for burns at home which you’ll easily find at any medical store. It not only reduces the pain but also helps in the restoration of burned skin.

4Cuts and Venous bleeding

If it’s a venous bleeding then the blood will be thick having a dark red color that will flow without oscillation. You can cover the cut with a pressure bandage in case of minor damage, but if the damage is serious, first cover the cut by applying a bandage and then call an ambulance.

5Bruises

In case of bruises, cooling the effective area will be enough. Cover the area with bruises with an ice pack for 15 to 20 minutes. In case the affected part starts swelling then cover it with an elastic bandage and run to an emergency room as soon as possible.

6Cuts and Arterial Bleeding

In the case of arterial bleeding the blood will flow in pulsating streams having a scarlet red color. To treat this, give pressure on the artery above the wound and apply a tourniquet. Note the time of fixing the tourniquet as it cannot be kept for more than one hour at a room temperature. Try to loosen it in every 30 minutes. Cover the wound with a clean bandage and call the ambulance.

7Insect Bites

In case you get bitten by an insect, toothpaste can be used as a first-aid treatment. It contains anti-inflammatory particles that reduces the redness and swelling. The presence of menthol will cool down the burning and itching. It is an effective ingredient to get rid of itching later you can consult a doctor if the itchiness and redness retains.

8Electric shock

If someone is getting electrocuted, don’t ever try to pull the person using bare hand as it will be a threat to your own life. Quickly unplug the device from which the person is getting electrocuted, then by using a wooden or plastic handle try to drag the person. If there is no danger, don’t touch the person and call the ambulance. But if there is still a danger of electric shock pull the person away as much as 30 ft. from the spot and call the ambulance.

9RIP currents

These currents are strong flows of water coming from seashore and takes away everything that comes in their way even the most skillful swimmers. So it is important to know how to face a RIP current. These currents do not usually exceed a limit of 30 ft. so to reach the calm waters swim parallel to these currents. If you’re unable to reach calm water then do not swim against it swim with the flow until you feel that you’re out of danger. Once you get rid of it. Swim diagonally in the direction of the shore, reason being RIP currents circulates back.

10Nosebleeds

It is not advised to keep your heads up during nose bleeding. Bend your head down a little and pinch the bleeding nostril for about 10 to 15 minutes to stop the bleeding. You can also block the bleeding nostril with the help of cotton. But if this bleeding lasts for more then 15-20 minutes then consulting a doctor will be beneficial.

11Concussion

If you are suspecting a concussion then the first thing you’ve to do is call an ambulance. Until it arrives to comfort the person by losing their trouser belt and help them in semi-sitting. Don’t give them any painkillers instead provide them with tea or water. Help in comforting the person as much as possible.

12Earth quakes

According to the theory of Doug Copp, the best place to hide during earthquakes is next to large furniture. According to him if a person hide himself or curls up near a furniture his life can be saved because of the void which is usually created next to furniture items. 13Drowning

Drowning is the scariest situation one can encounter. In this situation, it’s normal to get panicked but it only worsens the state. Do not panic, and try to remain afloat so that a lifeguard can notice you. Kick your legs continuously, it’ll help in keeping your head above the water and breathing as much air as possible.

If you think there are dangerous animals in water then stay still as much as possible. Don’t let them notice you as their usual prey. Try to float on your back, the ocean will itself pull you to the surface. See that if it’s possible to reach the shallow waters.

14Tick Bite

If you find a tick bite on your body try to take it out with the help of special tweezers instead of pouring oil on it. It is necessary to get it checked with the doctors to find out the infection in your blood if there is any and about the type of insect from which you get bitten.

15Apply glue on wound

If you mistakenly cut your hand while performing any work and there is no bandage left at home, in this case you can cover the wound by applying glue on it.
