15 Brilliant Unpublished Photos of National Geographic That Will Blow You Away

Everyone loves watching a good photo album and when the album happens to belong to National Geographic, then that’s sure to make someone sit up and take notice. National Geographic today is somewhat an American Icon in the field of media and education. In the past we all eagerly awaited your copies of NG but somehow among all those awesome photos, some did not make it to any publication. In 2013, project found was established to honor National Geographic 125th anniversary where photos were shared with a new audience. Take a look at 15 National Geographic unpublished photos.

1 March, 1909

This is a photo of a young Kenyan holding her pet deer in Mombasa. The quality of the photo a well as its creativity suggests that this could have easily made it to one of its many covers instead.

2 November 1967

One wonders how the photographer must have felt when shooting this photo. A whole herd of bosons charging towards you may make you mess your pants. But on the other hand, this American bison charge in Yellowstone is a fantastic photo and seems to have been shot from above.

3 May 1963

This photograph of hikers standing a top a natural rock on Mt Rainier in the Pacific Northwest appears almost magical because of the mountain enshrouded in mist.

4 September 1963

Fantastic rock formation in Western Australia which looks like a large wave. The unique shape is not manmade but a result of weathering by rain and wind.

5 England, June 1966

A tragic photo showing the ultra discipline of the Irish guards who all continue to stand to attention despite one of their colleagues lying n the ground having fainted most probably from the heat.

6 Philippines, 1935

Victoria water lily pads are a common site in Philippines. This was one classic photo of a kitten boarding one is brilliant and one also wonders if those could hold a lightweight human.

7 The Netherlands, 1931

Netherlands are well known for their Tulip farms which are a visual treat. This is a shot of tourists enjoying the sights of one in Haarlem. The different colors are mind blowing.

This is a beautiful shot of young schoolboys posing with a group of Penguins. This is an excellent photo and worthy of being an entry in NatGeo’s own wildlife photo awards.

9 The Capitol's Dome, November 1963

Would you believe? It isn’t just this mesmerizing photo that catches the eye; it’s the knowledge of the man lying in state that is more intriguing. It is none other than John.F. Kennedy lying in state in the Capitol.

10 California, 1982

Redwoods are famous in California and logging is an industry where just one tree could yield tones of wood sheets or paper. The photo is a clear example of how large a redwood really is.

11 Paris, 1960

Perhaps one of the best National Geographic unpublished photos of Paris capturing the romantic ambiance of the city. The fact that the couple is standing next to the Arc de Triomphe makes it even more appealing.

12 Hawaii, 1924

The ape-ape leaves of Hawaii are well known because of their giant size which could easily conceal a full grown man as you can see from the photo. The photo is taken at Puohokamoa Gulch in Maui.

Sequoia trees are really imposing like the giant redwoods. Once one falls, cutting it and carting it away is a huge task. It seems loggers or authorities found a way out of a fallen sequoia in the most innovative way possible.

15 May 1988

This was a real classic photograph of Caramel the cat a regular customer at a Parisian cafe named the Le Louis IX. The warm glow of the cafe has been captured perfectly well. The perfectly natural scene of customer and cat at a table as if it were an everyday affair is the most appealing aspect of the image.
