There are many in the world who cannot cope with losing someone. Indeed it is an extremely traumatic and tragic circumstance that our present life as we know it lives with the knowledge that we will never see our loved ones again. As much as we may try to handle such depression, there are many who lose it totally and commit acts that can be likened to bizarre. Be it for greed, money or pure trauma here are ten people who lived with dead bodies.
Anita Braxton was a serial offender. Having been arrested a dozen times, her beliefs bordered on religious fanaticism not in favor of any particular religion but in general. Braxton confessed to the gruesome murder of 20-year-old Crystal Hillman all because the girl didn’t believe in God. After killing her, she placed her dead body on her sofa and covered her in a towel saying she had made her into a shrine for God. The putrid odor of the decomposing body is what attracted attention. Although she was arrested, she had lived with the body for 3 days.

When Carl Tanzler 50 an Xray technician met 21 year of Maria Elena Milagro de Hoyos, he was obsessed with her regarding her as his true love. The 21 year old was interned for tuberculosis at the hospital where he worked. He was determined that he should cure her but unfortunately she died a year later in 1931. She soon disappeared and after 9 years of running around, Elena’s sister confronted Tanzler.
Tanzler took the woman to his house and what she was horrified her. There staring back at her was the decaying mummified body of Eelena. Tanzler had stuffed her body with rags to make her appear lifelike and lived with the body all those months.

Linda Chase a 72 year old just couldn’t cope with the death of her boyfriend 67 year old Charles Zeigler. She would spend all her time with him and so when he passed away in 2010, it was too much for her to cope. In 2012, police discovered Ziegler’s mummified body in Chase’s home. The corpse was sitting on his favorite chair in the living room in a bizarre scene as if actually watching TV. But!! Here’s the catch. Chase wasn’t just a mental case living with a dead body. She was also cashing his social security checks too.

Tsuiri Kvaratskhelkia just could not deal with the death of her son 2012 year old Joni Bakaadze. She embalmed and mummified his body preserving it at home. She also claimed that she wanted his 2 year old son to know who his father was. She even used Vodka to prevent the skin turning black. She even celebrated his birthday with a new change of clothes. The aged woman managed to keep the corpse for 20 years till her grandson was 22. You can well imagine the trauma the child may have faced every day.

Bruce and Schrell Hopkins were so traumatized at the death of their 7 year old son that they could not bring themselves to bury him. They kept him at home in an illusion as if he were alive. It was police who came across threw scene after calling on the couple because of rent default payment complaints by their landlord. The couple were arrested and found guilty by a court who charged them with negligent homicide. The boy had actually died of illness all because they did not believe in conventional medication and treated him with their own concoctions.

In 2014, neighbors of a small community in Buenos Aires complained to police of a putrid odor coming from the home of 58 year old Claudio Alfieri. Upon investigation, they were shocked to find the man lying dead on the kitchen floor. An examination found him to be dead for a month. But, he wasn’t the only corpse. His mother’s mummified body was also found sitting at the kitchen table fully clothed. He had lived with a dead body.Neighbors revealed that he suffered from serious psychological problems and he was most probably responsible for the little house of horrors.

In 2013, a Belgian woman devastated because of her 69 year old husband’s death lived with his body for a year. She even slept next to him. When police investigated, they found his internal organs had been liquefied. How she had managed to live with the rotting decomposing body and its odor was beyond those who stumbled on the grisly scene.

Domestic abuse can stretch into bizarre and evil actions. A man Parthasarathy regularly beat his 28 year of wife. One day after beating her senseless he left her in the bedroom only to return and find her hanging from the ceiling fan. Although she didn’t die from the hanging as he had cut her down in the nick of time, he left her on the bed where she passed away soon after. From that day, Parthasarathy slept outside the bedroom convincing his children that their mother was sick and didn’t want to be disturbed. The odor of the decomposing body soon alerted neighbors. When the police arrived, they found the gruesome scene.

Among people who lived with dead bodies, the husband of Jean Stevens died in 2000. It was her twin sister June who helped her through the ordeal but tragically June too passed away in 2009. Jean now 91 years old then made a bizarre decision. She had the bodies of her husband and sister exhumed legally and brought them to her home. After that she lived with the bodies speaking to them as if they were alive. The scene could have well been straight out of a bizarre mental movie. James was placed in the garage while June was placed in the guest room.

Timothy brown was unable to cope with his dead father Kenneth. He lived with the body for some time till a neighbor stumbled across the horrible scene of his father’s corpse sitting upright in a chair and dressed in pajamas. An ensuing police investigation found that the father and son were extremely close and the man had died by accident in a fire. Although Timothy was guilty of not having reported the death, he was released because he had after all lost his father.
