10 Natural Ways from The Old Days To Get Rid Of Skin Imperfections

By Andrew Alpin, 24 February

Around 95% of all people get skin problems at some point in life. Acne and other skin issues can be caused by several factors, like what you eat or using the wrong skin care products. No one has found the one cure that will heal your skin once and for all until now. But you don’t have to use chemicals or surgery to get healthy-looking skin. There are some really good natural treatments that can help.

Here are 10 ways from the old days that can help you get rid of skin imperfections, acne scars, blemishes, and more.

1 To get rid of acne scars: use green tea

Green tea has chemicals called phenols that can eliminate free radicals, reduce inflammation, and help heal scar tissue. As such, using green tea as a compress on your acne scars will help get rid of these skin imperfections:

  • Place two tea bags or two teaspoons of loose tea in a bowl.
  • Bring 500 ml of water to a boil and pour it into the bowl with the tea.
  • Take out the tea bags or tea leaves when the tea is done brewing.
  • Put a soft, clean cloth into the bowl, and let the liquid soak into the cloth.
  • Put the wet cloth on your face and leave it there for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • The compress can be used several times a day.

2 To reduce hyperpigmentation: use lemon juice with potatoes

Potatoes have a lot of vitamins and minerals that can help with skin imperfections such as hyperpigmented skin, dark spots, and acne scars. Citric acid, which is found in lemons, is thought to be a natural bleaching agent. Combining lemon juice and potato juice will allow you to make a mask that makes your skin look brighter:

  • Take a potato, wash it well, cut it into small pieces, and put them in the blender.
  • Use a strainer to extract the potato juice from the potato pulp.
  • Squeeze a lemon to make lemon juice.
  • Mix 4 teaspoons of potato juice and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice.
  • Use a brush or a cotton ball to put a thick layer of the mixture on the affected areas.
  • After putting on the first layer, let it dry for a few minutes, and then put on the second and third layers.
  • Leave the mask on your skin overnight, and wash it off with warm water in the morning.
  • Repeat the treatment daily for a week.
  • If you have dry or sensitive skin, add 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of rose water to keep the affected areas hydrated.
  • You can add 2 tablespoons of rice flour to the mask if you have oily or both dry and oily skin.
  • The mixture can be stored for 3–4 days in the fridge as well.

3 To tighten saggy skin: use green coconut water

Coconut water contains cytokinins and antioxidants that help get rid of acne, tighten sagging skin, and speed up the healing of deep scars. Even when you drink coconut water, your skin stays healthy and smooth and looks younger.

  • Cut open a fresh green coconut and pour the water into a bowl.
  • Dip a cotton ball into the coconut and wipe your face with it.
  • Then use lukewarm water to wash your face.
  • To get the best results, wipe your face with coconut water daily.

4 To remove acne: use apple cider vinegar

There is acetic acid in apple cider vinegar, as well as potassium and magnesium. If you use this liquid as a toner, it will help get rid of acne because it is a powerful detoxifier with antibacterial and antifungal properties:

  • Mix 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with 2 to 3 tablespoons of distilled or filtered water.
  • After you wash your face, use a cotton pad to put the mixture on your skin.
  • Wait till the toner dries. After that, you can use other skincare items.
  • It would be best if you used the toner twice a day or every time you wash your face.
